"Scott has a plan for you"
Ben Bolch of the L.A. Times apparently forgot to make some changes on his computer before sending his story for publication.
Here's how the published version of Bolch's story on Luke Hochevar, the Kansas City Royals' top pick in the amateur baseball draft quoted Hochevar: "Scott had a plan in this, and his master plan definitely worked," Hochevar said. "It was tough through it — you go through it and you fight it — but when it all comes down to it, Scott has a plan for you, and he definitely worked a miracle in my case."
Kind of sounds religious, doesn't it?
That's apparently what the L.A. Times' readers thought as well. The Times soon published the REAL quote:
"God had a plan in this, and his master plan definitely worked. It was tough through it -- you go through it and you fight it -- but when it all comes down to it, God has a plan for you, and he definitely worked a miracle in my case."
What the Times cannot tell us is whether or not Bolch's own (more than likely accurate) viewpoint of Hochevar's "health, wealth, and prosperity" gospel was coming through in the original quote. :-)
